Religion and the Media In the world we live in today people have revolutionized the image of religion, so that it is now regarded as a pastime instead of it solely being about God. In today's world media has evolved to be much more powerful than religion, and therefore some say that media is taken more seriously. After observation of the TV channels broadcasting specific religious programmes, I saw that all terrestrial TV channels had at least one hour a week of religious programmes. The government issues the license enabling TV companies to broadcast, and has a significant role in deciding on what has to be shown. In each TV channels broadcasting charter it is stated that they must "provide an average of at least two hours a week of religious programmes." This means that if a TV channel does not show this minimum amount their license could be evoked. It is very obvious why the government is concerned about religion in the UK since only 48 per cent of UK residents claim to belong to a religion, compared to 89 per cent in the United States and 92 per cent in Italy. Also two-thirds of 18-24 year olds in the UK, say that they have no religious affiliation compared to just a quarter in Spain. Nearly all religious programmes are aired at non-prime time slots, with the exception only being Songs of Praise on Sundays from 17.45-18.15. This suggests that the TV companies see broadcasting religious programmes as something they must to do, and not something they wish to do. We see further evidence of this by Reverend Ernest Rea words, who was the head of religion and ethics at the BBC. Revd Ernest Rea explains that "religion is... ...e put more thought on deciding how to end this moral issue, so there is a fair equilibrium on what the Soap represents. I am not suggesting that they should exalt religion and not take into consideration the moral side of things, but what I am saying is that there has to be a fine balance. Christians believe that life is sacred and that no one has the right to take away this gift that God has given us. The sanctity of life is first described in Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them". From this biblical quote we can conclude that if God has created us in the image of Himself, then therefore each human exists as an expression of God and his character. Then this would surely mean that human beings cannot destroy this sacred image in anyway.

I am considered to be a communicative person who established an outstanding raport with others. I am able to listen deeply to people,to help them ,to share my experience with them. Many of them tell me I am a good listener and when I talk they usually listen to me. What is important for a good communication? You need to take into consideration the point of view of others. Determining a communication problem is not very hard for me and I am often able to resolve it. I usually speak in a gentle manner,to give an impression of kindness. I often stay calm in tense situations. I can express my feelings and tell people close to me how much I care about them. My relationship with my family is full of emotion and devotion. Many people think I am a friendly and expansive person. I often know how to cooperate with them and they usually do what I want them to do. It was hard for me to express my thoughts,it was hard for others to know how I felt about something. Later,I improved my communication skills. During my experience,I began to speak louder and people could understand me. I listened to others more carefully. I learned that it is important to avoid passive style of communication. I also learned to speak with more assertion because my own opinion is as important as the opinion of other people. I usually tell people to stay calm in unpleasant situations in order to avoid misunderstanding or aggressive communication. This style enables me to communicate effectively. I discovered that my body language and some gestures I made earlier affected my communication in a bad way. Eye contact is extremely important as it shows respect and interest for the person you are talking to. In addition to this,posture is another important aspect of dealing with others and sometimes it affected my communication. I learned to get my posture right which made me feel better. By finding out the major cause of communication breakdown,I could easily improve it. Being aware of the importance of a successful communication,I am trying to find the ways to improve my communication skills. For example,using body language may lead to great communication. This is especially useful when I am not sure how to start a conversation. In addition to this,I need to be clear about what I want to communicate. I also need to be confident that the information if useful and accurate. By successfully getting my message accross,I convey my thoughts effectively .

Suspense is when the author or filmmakers keeps away information from the audience so that they become more engaged in the story. People like to watch suspenseful things because it is interesting. The lack of knowledge keeps you interested because you want to find out what will happen next. This keeps you hooked because you are waiting to see what will happen next. Movies with suspense in it tend to do better. This is because people are hooked and want to watch it. I am choosing the show Stranger Things because it is one of the best shows to create suspense. Stranger Things is a show on Netflix where a boy named Will Byers is kidnapped by an unknown monster and his three friends go and try to find him. It is the most suspenseful†¦show more content†¦He goes into his house and tries to call someone, but the monster is heard through the line. He runs into the shed and grabs a shotgun. He hears a noise behind him. It is the demogorgon. Before it takes him, the lights flicker one last time and he is taken. In this scene, two signs of foreshadowing are shown. The first is that Will didn’t roll high enough so he got taken by the demogorgon. They are showing that in the near future, he will be taken by the demogorgon. This ends up happening on his way home from Mike’s house. The second sign of foreshadowing is used twice in the beginning of the show. The first time happened at the lab when a doctor got taken by the monster. While he was running, the lights in the lab were flickering and he got taken. When Will is leaving Mike’s house the lights outside were flickering, and his bike light was flickering too. Right after, the demogorgon appears in the middle of the street. And when he is hiding in the shed, the shed light flickers until he is taken. The lights flickering clearly foreshadow that the monster is coming because each scene that it happens, it appears soon after. This adds much suspense to the story because you know what will happen, but not the exact timing of it. Dramatic irony is when you know what is happening, and the character does not. Suspense relies on it by showing you what will happen. This ends up having you wait until it actually happens.
